Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) is a program hosted annually by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). It is an academic, entrepreneurial and cultural interlude session in KAUST’s academic calendar with a primary purpose of enriching and inspiring the students beyond their normal academic curriculum.

This year WEP featured two events sponsored/organized by KAUST’s Industry partners, DOW Middle East Innovation Center and Saudi Aramco R&D Center.

Design & Build Your Own Robot, a workshop aimed at giving KAUST students hands-on experience with designing, building and programming robotic systems. Organized by Saudi Aramco and sponsored by Pioneers Technical Systems, the worksop was held for 3hrs a day over 5 days.

STEAM Innovation Challenge, an intensive three-day weekend ideation event held in KAUST for university students, was sponsored this year by DOW.

The Challenge involves about 170 students from KAUST and six partnering Saudi universities. Grouped into teams, the student teams develop & present well-defined solutions to three major real world challenges developed in partnership with a corporate partner in just three days.
