Dr. Hadi Zulfiqar

Technology deployment specialist – specializing in the fields of water, energy and mining related technologies.

Dr. Hadi is a Chemical Engineer with a diverse educational and professional background. He holds an MBA and a PhD in coal combustion technology from the esteemed University of Newcastle in Australia. Prior to his involvement in innovation management roles, Hadi gained valuable experience in operational roles within industrial process plants. He also served in project design and consulting positions in a multinational engineering firm, where he contributed to a range of engineering projects encompassing power station design, wastewater treatment plant upgrade and commissioning, solar hydrogen plant design, and post-combustion carbon capture pilot plant commissioning.

Hadi is eager to contribute to the fulfillment of KAUST’s innovation vision for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Drawing on his extensive experience in innovation management, Hadi is committed to leveraging the wealth of knowledge accumulated at the university to benefit the broader community. He embraces a multifaceted approach to achieve this, including strategic intellectual property management, licensing, consultancy, professional training, and other commercialization activities.

Driven by a passion for translating academic research and knowledge into tangible solutions, Hadi brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to his role at KAUST. Through his contributions, he aims to propel the university’s innovation initiatives, making a meaningful impact on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond.
