Ahmed Alfadhel, a KAUST PhD candidate in electrical engineering and inventor, and Dr. Osman Bakr, Associate Professor, Material Science and Engineering at KAUST, were both recently named as ‘Top Five Innovators Under 35’ at the ‘9th MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition’ at King Abdullah Economic City.
At the startup competition, which took place on April 14, winners from 76 contesting teams and 15 Arab countries were announced in startups, ideas and social entrepreneurship tracks.
The competition was preceded by the ‘Time to Invest in Arab Youth and Their Innovations Conference,’ which was organized by MIT Technology Review Arab Edition and the MIT Enterprise Forum. It was during this Conference that Alfadhel and Bakr were named as top innovators.
The Conference addressed the tremendous opportunities for regional and global players to invest in an increasingly innovative Arab youth. Middle East millennials lead the way globally in entrepreneurship.
